Orly star spangled freebie from cosmopolitan

If none of you have realised yet I’m a bargain hunter. That’s why I get so excited when magazines give away brands free. Last week it was glamour, and this week its cosmopolitan. I will admit I wasn’t impressed with colours Orly were giving away free from the promo picture. I went for the gold glitter originally, which ended up being the same as last years nails inc glamour glitter. I didn’t think twice about the red as it looked metallic.

orly star spangled 5mlBoy was that promo picture bad, because this red is a beauty. It’s called star spangled, and is a gorgeous red filled with lots of red micro glitter.

orly gingham

This is 3 coats of star spangled. There were no issues with application. It actually went on like a dream.

orly freebie cosmoFirst thing I did after I had finished was check how much was left in the bottle, and shockingly there is lots left. That was the only downside to freebie it being only 5ml. In all reality though how often do we use a whole bottle of full size nail polish, unless its our favourite.

orly star spangled cosmo

Tonight I have a fancy dress 21st, and I’m going as little red riding hood. That’s why I tried my hand at doing some gingham.

Hope this is helpful ūüôā

Thank you.

Kate Spade nails inc Glamour shades: part 2

I fixed the problem! Well I re-found the pictures rather.

kate spade nails inc glamour set

nails inc soho silverThis is Soho Silver. It applied streaky, but as you can see it self settled pretty well with minimal streakiness showing. 3 coats were used.

glamour 2012 v2013These rest of the swatches are shown as comparison’s to last years free shades.

big apple redThe red on my index finger Is the new shade called Big Apple Red which is slightly dark toned to St James which is one my middle finger. Big Apple Red applied smoothly with a glossy finish. Shown is 2 coats. If you own last years shades you don’t necessarily need this years shade of red.

new york noirNew York Noir was somewhat of a surprise, as I didn’t expect it to be black. It applied glossy and provided full coverage in 2 coats. New York Noir is on my index finger, and Motcombe Street is on my middle finger. Motcombe Street is a tealy based black/dark navy. There is only a slight difference, which the camera struggled to pick up.

cotton pad This is the only way I could figure out how to show you the differences. New York Noir is on the left, and Motcombe Street is on the right.

Overall the collection is a bit hit and miss for me personally. The metallic’s are my favourites. For ¬£2 each they are bargain, and a great ready-made collection for beginners.

I hope this post was helpful ūüôā

Thank you.

Kate Spade nails inc Glamour shades

It’s that time of year again when Glamour magazine gives away free nails inc shades. Now I did have all four shades swatched, and 2 comparisions, but they aren’t all on my memory card :,(.

kate spade nails inc glamour setIn order from left to right: New York Noir  (glossy black), Uptown Glamour (gold metallic), Soho Silver (silver metallic), and Big Apple Red (glossy red).

All colours are different from last years free ones, but if you weren’t super picky about shade variations I would suggest you only need uptown glamour and Soho silver.

These are quick dirty swatches, so no clean up was involved.

uptown glamour nails incThe metallics shocked me as I expected them to very streaky like some of the foil line are, but they are a kind of low key streaky I can deal with. It’s more of a muted soft gold bordering on champagne. Upon removal I noticed its base town on the cotton wool pad was brown. This is without topcoat.

kate spade uptown glamour nails incIt is a great addition to my nails inc family, and for ¬£2 it’s cheaper than a hight street polish.

Thank you.

Seaside Splash: July GlossyBox

This months Glossybox has nail polish strips!!! I did say if my Glossybox has nail related products I would share. Loving this box this month. Bit of a warning: this is picture heavy, went a bit crazy taking pictures in the garden this morning.

july 2013 glossybox

How pretty is the box?!!? Yeh I’m a complete sucker for pretty¬†packaging. Glossybox never fails on packaging for me, and I recycle it all in various ways.

sunscreen glossybox july

First product to be promptly used was this tester of COOLA mineral face SPF 20 unscented sunscreen as the weather is glorious but my milk bottle skin¬†doesn’t¬†agree. I burn ridiculously easy. Nice things about this product are its organic which is always a plus, and it¬†isn’t¬†oily or shiny once on. On the downside I had to use double the amount of standard sunscreen; doesn’t go very far. Now this is more of a personal choice, but I wish it was scented I don’t like the natural smell. Once I put it on I havent smelt it at all, so I’m on the fence a bit there. Great product to fit in with the boxes seaside splash theme.

face spritz july glossybox

Anatomicals spray misty for me facial spritz for a cool down. Anyone else a little apprehensive at spraying stuff at your own face like me? I’ve had a spray, but before that I went and¬†sprayed¬†moms and my nieces face. All of us like the smell. Mom said it cooled her down slightly. For me it was more of an instant cool then back to normal.

texture mist july glossybox

Alterna bamboo style boho waves tousled texture mist is a product I would welcome any-day. Texture sprays and creams work well for my hair when its long as it has a natural wave and sometimes if im lucky curl to it. Slap some on and voilà easy hair for me. After a quick spray on my ponytail I think I would need to be generous with it, as only a bit went wavy (then again my hairs pretty straight today?). The smell is very light and nice.

sleek paint pout

Very intrigued by these Sleek pout paints. I¬†received 2 in minx and mauve over. My sister¬†has already put her name down for mauve over if it’s too bright for my skin tone, and at the moment I don’t think it is too much of a shocker for my skin. I’ll be asking everyone I come into contact with today if it’s too bright I’m like that hahah. Used a teeny tiny amount and applied it with my finger, and I have to say its pretty on the money with the pigmentation and small amount talk.¬†Surprise¬†thumbs up there.

essie glossy july

essie close up july

When I opened the box my eyes ZOOMED in on these!! I have wanted to try them for a while especially the once with writing on. That design is to die for. I got croc’ n chic which is a me design and very neutral. This made the box for me for 2 reasons. Reason 1 they cost ¬£10.00 in boots and I can’t justify it for strips so yay. Reason 2 the box costs ¬£10.00 (without shipping) so it’s a great item for a nail lover like me to receive without the rest of the contents.

You all know if I cant use polish for a while or I’m out the country strips are my go to, so Im looking forward to trying these.

As always I have to say thank you to Rich as he got me the subscription to Glossybox. I did get this box free from filling in the review questionnaires and getting glossy dots. Now I feel I havent overloaded you enough with photos, so here’s an Allium that’s sadly no longer in flower but pretty all the same.

Hope everyone’s enjoying this glorious weather!!

Where was my invite? ;)

These nails of mine felt like they should have been celebrating in America for the 4th of July. No invite ūüėČ plus no money meant no America for me aha. The polish that started this was a present from Saira.

indie gift 2

I bet your thinking duh the American fag is blue, white and red not blue, red and pink.

indie gift

Loving this combo! The blue and the glitter mix were presents. Nan and Grandad brought me 4 Rimmels in bright colours off their holiday. They know me too well.

My Seche Vite needs refilling. I get just below the half way line and it constantly plays up -_- so annoying. The red is Nails inc its red babez which was a freebie.

I was waving my slightly patriotic nails around wishing I was over the pond in the warmth on a beach or maybe a pool waiting on the bbq with a cocktail in my hand with my American friends  ;). I can dream right?

My hands and nail polish remover seem to be at war. I use non acetone remover to avoid my skin freaking out, but the past few times I’ve removed polished they have ended up going nasty anyway. That’s why you guys get super shiny hands; gave them a crap load of moisturiser to soak in.

Thank you.
