I love you like XO

On Monday I went to see Beyonce’s Mrs Carter world tour for the second year running. It was interesting to see how she slotted her new songs into the show. It was amazing not that I expected any less. Now one of my besties has some serious luck, because our seats were AMAZING! We actually thought we were a block further down, but it turned out block 2 is what we thought was block 1. We were directly opposite the stage :O! We had such a good time and are going to try make it our thing. Attending Beyonce’s concerts that is.

One song I’m a bit obsessed with is XO, so I thought why no translate it to my nails.

gosh gradient

gosh xo maniOk so I know the gold glitter on my little finger doesn’t fit in with the manicures colours, but I didn’t realise I was going to do a silver heart, and I wanted to use all 3 polishes out of the gosh set. Originally the heart was going to be gold.

Anyone else find that oranges are a pain in the bum?! This one took 4 coats!!! -_- It’s the same with all my other oranges except a nails inc one, but even that takes 3 coats for full coverage. Good job I didn’t choose the pink as a base colour as that was look on the sheer side on the brush too. Even with all that though the colours look great together. Plus it’s the colour of an outfit Beyonce had on in the Crazy in love video.

I’m feeling rather proud of this gradient if I do say so myself. Once all the time consuming work was done I went to town with the studs. My thumb didn’t turn out looking great, but it will do. Now every time I look at my nails I start singing XO.

Thanks for reading.

P.S. I have no clue where my Nailtiques has gone. I’ve looked everywhere. It needs to reappear as the Butter London base coat is just no cutting it.

Zoya Payton the blackberry

I tried to talk myself out of Zoya Payton I really did, but its too beautiful to resist. On the plus side I found a site where I can purchase Zoya’s for high street prices which is a huge help.

zoya payton and barry m countessSorry about the tip wear.

zoya oaytonIt even compliments my pale skin tone. Such a vampy colour.

payton and accent nailFor a quick accent nail I added Barry M countess and dotted some topcoat on. The dots are a lot more visible in real life. Countess is a shade I’m looking forward to seeing top coated.

paytonI’ve also found a nail length that I’m happy with for squared off nails. Sadly one broke, but I refuse to file and cut them down because they took ages to file and I absolutely hate filing with a passion. The smell of it is blergh.

Only down side for me and Zoya’s is the topcoat business. This time I added Butter London fast dry topcoat which isn’t very fast drying for me. It hasn’t made a difference on the wear time sadly, so sadly tip wear appeared within 24 hours. It is still one of my favourite polishes just for the gorgeous colour. It reminds me of blackberry juice when applying. Way back when I used to be covered in the stuff from blackberry picking with my parents. I think I may have to go blackberry picking this year, as it’s been a few years since I’ve been.

Thank you for reading.

Golden peacock

to get my nails painted. I’ve had two different nail shapes on each hand since Tuesday. Only to have sorted them out last night. I was going square again, but I wasn’t feeling them so I shaped one hand round and never got round to the other. Onto the manicure. I decided to do a ruffian with a vintage Sally Hansen Han got me for Christmas, and no7 galaxy from part of my present off my MIL and grandparents. sassy frost ruffianTaboo dupe you are MINE muhahaha! Can you see the shimmer? peacock embellishment ruffianShimmmmmmer. Okay I will stop now. The weirdest thing happened last night I wanted to apply a coat of butter london’s hard wear topcoat before SV, and it was dissolving galaxy off the tips of my nail. It wasn’t shrinking it, but eating it O.o say whattt? Confused wasn’t the word for how I was feeling about it. glaxy shimmer As soon as I saw the peacock feather eyes I knew I needed them. Peacocks are gorgeous, and I even dressed up as one with a big fan on my back for my 18th, and a 6 year olds birthday. I really need to change the collar and back fan to hook and eyes, as the velcro is very restricting. I think they are a work  of art. Pure magical. The colours draw me in instantly every time. I’ve even dreamed about owning one if my house had enough land in the future. A whole load of them can you imagine it. Sadly that won’t ever be a reality my fiancé is scared of them, so is his sister too. They apparently look evil. They also make a lot of noise. Reminds me of screeching. Anyway back to the nails. The embellishments bend, and this time I did actually bend them. Don’t ask haha. There are a two on my right hand I didn’t bend enough but oh well. Two coats of topcoat sealed mine in completely. *personal blabbering coming up*   horsesI came across this picture on my memory card whilst getting the posts images off it. This was taken 6 weeks after my back operation in 2012. There was many stops along the way to Newquay, as I could only sit for long before I needed to walk. These gorgeous horses happened to be opposite the parking lot. The photo actually made me reflect about whats happened since, and in some ways I’ve shocked myself. 1) I’m still at uni, which I dislike passionately, but I’ve started it so I’m determined to finish it. 2) I’m more resilient than I thought I was emotionally. 3) My determination has doubled, and I’ve weathered some huge storms in my personal life. These storms we all have affect us all, but it’s how we overcome and deal with them that matters. Sorry to get all personal, but this week has been an odd one ,and I’m not complaining. I’ve put in over 50 hours work into the shop this week, and I’m so proud of what me and my fiancé have achieved. It makes me so happy to see people creating things with products we sell, and talking to the customers is so much fun. I wish so much that the shop could be my full-time job after university. ughhh dreaded uni, I really really don’t want to go back. I’m sure I will be fine once I’m back. We finish the degree in May, so I will plod on until then. Its rather scary as I will done with education for a good while. Higher education at a degree level anyway. Thank you for reading :).

Trying new things

Everything in this post is new to me, as they were all presents, but I wanted to talk about my new topcoat. Topcoat talk will be at the bottom of the post.

bIMG_4278Lacquer lust aquamarine is the polish that wasn’t included in my Christmas present haul post. Saira picked well didn’t she?! Aquamarine is my birthstone, and I gravitate to blue a lot. Thank you Saira! To be all sentimental on new years day I have to say I’ve created some great friendships this year, and getting to see Saira the last 2 times I have been in London has been great. Lets face it anytime I’m down there I will try and see her. This year I hope to meet up with 3 other ladies that are amazing. I really wish I could meet up with my American friends, but I can’t see that happening anytime soon :(. Totally off subject but has anyone got bored of flying as they have gotten older? I flew to Florida when I was 18, and although it was a bit meh and I got horrid jet lag it was fine. Fast forward to this year a 3 hour flight drove me bonkers!!! I was SO bored, and just wanted to be there already. Pretty sure I bugged the hell out of my fiance.

sIMG_4280You know I said I disliked textures well it turns out I don’t. Barry M’s were on my Christmas list, and I have to say I’m loving Lady. There wasn’t any issues with dry time like I had with the Zoya that swiftly left my collection. It took 3 coats for full coverage, and I was skeptical on how thick it would look on my nail. Thankfully it isn’t thick at all, and better yet when I added the dots they seem to have absorbed into the texture leaving no blobs…….kinda want the other 2 from the collection. Must resist though.

I used O.P.I my favourite ornament on my thumb and pinky finger (ohmagawd I love it. The pale gold is gorgeous). No issues with application. Lets face it O.P.I will always be a love of mine, and I’m still hankering for the man with the golden gun.

O.P.I was last years (sounds weird 2013) gold/silver leaf topper, and it applied fine. No fishing was needed all I had to do was rearrange them on my nail with some dabbing. Funny thing happened yesterday. Me and one of the ladies in sally’s got talking about the gold leaf topcoat. She said she hated the man with the golden gun, and promptly said I’m buying pure when I showed it her on my nail. She felt the man with the golden was mustardy looking.

You probably can’t see it but there is some stamping on my middle finger. I stamped with a Sally Hansen chrome, and it didn’t work to great. Unfortunately my new topcoat smudged and dragged the stamping -_-.

pIMG_4279Lets talk topcoat. Now you all know I’m a Seche Vite lover through and through even when its being a pain in the bum. In my Butter London set I got a base and topcoat. The fast drying topcoat intrigued me. Would it dry as fast as SV? I didn’t actually time it, but it was fast drying. Not as fast as SV, but nothing to moan about either. So yes I could use it regularly. It isn’t as glossy as SV which makes me a bit sad and slightly OCD, as I doubt anyone else in the house would have noticed that. Glitters are such topcoat eaters and usually after a coat or 2 of SV all is smooth. Not the case for Butter London P.D quick topcoat. After 2 coats on the glitter it still isn’t anywhere near as smooth to touch as it would have been with SV. Personally I feel I would avoid the topcoat when stamping as it started dragging the stamped polish down my nail.

All in all I will use it may not create the gel look I’m often complimented on, but it does the job well. So thumbs up to Butter London on that one.

Hope you all had fun last night, and have a great new years day!!

Thank you for reading.

Ho Ho Haulin

Pretty sure I robbed that title off Inky whiskers. I got treated this Christmas a lot, and I’m very VERY thankful to those who did the treating! Now get ready for picture spam.

IMG_4251

From my parents I got some a-englands: Elaine, Dragone, Galahad. A nails inc set including: Knightsbridge green, Draycott place, Jermyn street, Walton place, Westminster, Royal mews. An O.P.I: my favourite ornament.

IMG_4252 They also got me O.P.I pure. YAYYYYYY especially after I regretted not getting the man with the golden gun last year. Can’t wait to crack this baby open!

IMG_4249

One of my best friends got me ciates: The Hampton’s and jewellery box. The lovely Margaret sent me Jindie nails rave (& Timtams can’t be forgetting those). My neighbour (more like an aunty to me) got me some urban outfitters polishes: Neptune and bandeau to name a few, and the L.A. colors strippers which I actually really like.

IMG_4247 An aunty and uncle brought me the Rio nails foil set which I’m really loving. Came at the right time I was considering ordering some foils last week. Freaky or what?!

IMG_4245

My fiancé got me this butter London set. The colour included is HRH. I do enjoy Butter London polishes, but they are on the pricey side. So YAY to this too.

IMG_4248

I got VINTAGES!!! Hannah surprised me with Sally Hansen sassy frost, Revlon drab and Revlon Hollywood crème. All shades that are beautiful.

IMG_4246

My aunty and uncle in-laws and the gorgeous doggy Fleur got me the O.P.I. I keep picturing those colours with pure *le sigh*. Now for the shocker I actually asked for some textured polishes which weren’t zoya from my fiancé, so I’m looking forward to trying alactraz…rocks.

Nan and granddad in law do me, my fiancé, and sister-in-law stockings with little bits in every year. The scarf in the background came out of it, and I love it. They hear all too often how I’m cold haha. Me and my SIL got a set of glitter polishes.

IMG_4244I got a big Nails inc set off my fiance’s dad including: royal botanical gardens (been admiring it from afar since summer), ladbroke square, upper regent street, westbourne grove, Fitzroy square, Connaught square, Bloomsbury square, lumley street, Sloane square, and boltons place (my SIL had some sets too, and had two so she kindly gave me one).

My mom in law and grandparents got me No7 galaxy and paradise love as part of my present.

My fiance got me some of the Barry M textures in duchess, countess and lady. They look beautiful on everyone I’ve seen in the bloggy world. Naturally I felt I needed them ;). He also go me the Rio nail studio set up. I can’t get it to fit in the box again so no picture. It will help my back a tonne when doing mine and others nails.

I also have a present of Saira which will appear in the next blog post.

As I said earlier I’m very thankful to everyone that was kind enough to get me a gift. Now to crack on using them!!

Thank you for reading :).
