What to expect from tinted nail polish

After a few people expressed interest in seeing the Maybelline sheer tints in action I decided to add a link in the last to an old blog post using them. I’d like to think I’ve improved greatly since that post, so I decided to have a play with them again.

The sheer tints are basically a coloured topcoat, and remind me of water colours. Water colours for nails that’s what I’m calling them. Now I did look into the birch box video showing you what you can with the O.P.I sheer tints, and they seem to be the same concept. Now whilst the birch box showed you them on a white base coat I decided to use a silver holographic base colour.

I decided to do something different on each nail. On my little finger I sponged all 4 shades on, then dabbed some extra on the eye to build up the colour. On my ring finger I applied some random length stripes in orange, blue and berry water. The middle got dots, but the lemon water isn’t too visible. Now on my index finger I started to recreate the birch box video manicure, but mine is more angular. At least I tried. My favourite has to be berry water out of them all.

Hope this post was helpful!

Thank you for reading.

Just one of those days

you can fill in the rest of those lyrics if you like. Yesterday was one of those days. Manicure one was going wrong half way through. One of those too many coaters that I added a glitter gradient too, a nail accessory I stupidly didn’t bend first, and just general ugh. After all the time it took I thought fine whatever its staying on. Real life intervened food needed dishing up, and the kitchen needed sorting after. It actually turns out Butter London’s fast drying topcoat doesn’t work well with nail art or multiple layers of polish. There was no fixing it. It occurred to me whilst ironing why it all went horrible, because it wasn’t what I originally planned to do. So that’s what I did. It didn’t pan out how I had hoped though.

revlon valentinesRED JELLY!!! Thank you Hannah. I see a ladybird jelly sandwich in my future. The beauty is hidden by my silly idea of topping it with a flakie topcoat, then adding dots.

revlon hollywoodThis Barry M texture is amazing. Purely because I thought it was dry and tried to stamp a gold squirrel that moved the whole polish with an odd-looking squirrel. Bit of prodding and another coat of lady and all was well. Even if you can still see the gold coming through……..its for effect okay ;). No idea how the dotted heart came about at all. Just kinda did it. Accidental valentines nails it seems.

It being a new year yesterday I did ‘something new’. That’s right I shocked myself with it. An exploder is what I am, so when I’m getting annoyed for a better word of it, it comes out. Especially when I’m at home. Don’t worry in a professional setting, and in the presence of complete random people it can be contained. Yep plaster a smile on that crap, and expel it when I get home. The explosion was contained greatly go me, until I woke up with a blinding headache most likely from the tension. That ‘something new’ will not be a new years resolution for me. New years resolutions aren’t really a thing for me, but I got to thinking in terms of my blog/hobby. Here’s what they are:

1) Carry on enjoying blogging. It provides me the perfect space for me to just do what makes me happy, and try to relax. I try not to fill it with personal things. Case in point this blog post haha. This blog was born from stress, and that’s why I don’t set myself exact days I post on/how many times I post a week/tell myself to never post a manicure that’s rubbish. It works well for me, and I do miss blogging regularly when its the end of semester at university. Crazy to think a blog could give me so much, but it does.

2) Heres the funny part: try to stick to my wish list. Stress shopping is a bad habit I need to kick even if it’s a bargain. Not that I regret my pretties!!

Can’t tell you how much better I feel now I’ve expelled some of that, even at this late hour. So thank you if your still reading, and for sticking with me people.

Thank you.

Headline colours = elephantastic

Doing something slightly different today. I’ve decided if I get a nail polish in my GlossyBox then I will show you guys the polish, and the other products that I received. I won’t review the other products as my focus here is nails, but sometimes (pretty good so far) the box is worth buying for the extra products depending on the polish price. This months box the birthday one was amazing for me.

glossy box bday box

The eyeliner from collection (full size) I will use, and that retails at £2.99. Jelly pong pong mascara (full size), Mascara is my most used product next to lip balm and this one retails at £15.00. The hand bag nail files are so cute, and I will definitely be using those. Paul Mitchell shine spray (full size) come summer this baby will be out, retails at £18.95. Beautiful movements cosmetics  prime and create mixing medium (tester) which is something I would only use occasionally as a primer. Lets get onto the main one: nail polish!

HLC poolside

This is Poolside party from headline colours spring/summer 2013 collection. It retails at £9.00. That rather large price tag means I wouldn’t buy it usually. This coverage was achieved with 2 coats. Now y’all know I’m impatient with drying time, and a sv addict. Well guess what?! this polish dried by itself in half hour (when I checked). The only reason I didn’t use sv was due to catching up on Hart of dixie, and I thought why not give no sv another go. That drying time never happens to me EVER much to my annoyance! At first I was meh, then BAM the drying time bowled me over.

Note to self: who was I kidding thinking I could do uniform dots.

How cute is that little elephant?! I love him. These water decals are from YRNails, and the huge order I made a couple of months back. The rhinestones and glittery dots on my accent nail represent the water the elephants blowing out. If you don’t mind a few bubbles Seche vite works well for keeping rhinestones intact on the nail. So far its been 3 days, and I’ve lost none.

For my other nails I just dotted China glazes glistening snow on. Clean up on my little finger sucks, sorry.

pretty paper

This months GlossyBox wrapping has such pretty paper. What I received in this box is fantastic value. Quick thank you to my other half as he got my subscription as a present for me. Have to say me and my mom get really excited opening it; reminds me of childhood memories of lucky bags.

A very dear friend of mine went to the Covent garden event for the birthday celebrations, and got a free box. Poor thing felt ill, and attacked after.

I fell down the rabbit hole ()_()

This is all the outcome of a splatter manicure that didn’t start well, and I needed to save it. Enter rabbits! I’m feeling pretty proud about these nails, as my nail art is usually rubbish. My right hand actually turned out decent :O shocked myself with that one.

Blossom tree

In our back garden we have two blossom trees, and they have started to get buds. I adore blossom trees, in my wedding dreams I would like to walk down an isle with blossom trees on both side. I say dream, because that’s never going to happen. Not rich enough oh well. My free hand skills are terrible you will agree when you see my tree trunks.

cherry blossom left hand

These took me forever to do! This post is picture heavy.

My none dominant hand. My holo base kept getting bald spots -_- was very annoying.

I used a small striping brush for my trees. Then dotted my blossoms on.

After I spend hours on these nails I chipped them on a draw the next morning O.O wahhhhh. These turned OK thought they would be worse. I will try and do some more blossom nails and hopefully get better, because I love them.

Products used: Nailtiques formula 1 base coat. Sancion angel in arwen. UP colors in multi magenta. Unnamed wetnwild. Sally Hansen complete salon manicure in casting call. Nails inc in Holland park avenue. Seche vite. Dotting tools, and small striping brush.
