Kate Spade nails inc Glamour shades: part 2

I fixed the problem! Well I re-found the pictures rather.

kate spade nails inc glamour set

nails inc soho silverThis is Soho Silver. It applied streaky, but as you can see it self settled pretty well with minimal streakiness showing. 3 coats were used.

glamour 2012 v2013These rest of the swatches are shown as comparison’s to last years free shades.

big apple redThe red on my index finger Is the new shade called Big Apple Red which is slightly dark toned to St James which is one my middle finger. Big Apple Red applied smoothly with a glossy finish. Shown is 2 coats. If you own last years shades you don’t necessarily need this years shade of red.

new york noirNew York Noir was somewhat of a surprise, as I didn’t expect it to be black. It applied glossy and provided full coverage in 2 coats. New York Noir is on my index finger, and Motcombe Street is on my middle finger. Motcombe Street is a tealy based black/dark navy. There is only a slight difference, which the camera struggled to pick up.

cotton pad This is the only way I could figure out how to show you the differences. New York Noir is on the left, and Motcombe Street is on the right.

Overall the collection is a bit hit and miss for me personally. The metallic’s are my favourites. For £2 each they are bargain, and a great ready-made collection for beginners.

I hope this post was helpful 🙂

Thank you.

Kate Spade nails inc Glamour shades

It’s that time of year again when Glamour magazine gives away free nails inc shades. Now I did have all four shades swatched, and 2 comparisions, but they aren’t all on my memory card :,(.

kate spade nails inc glamour setIn order from left to right: New York Noir  (glossy black), Uptown Glamour (gold metallic), Soho Silver (silver metallic), and Big Apple Red (glossy red).

All colours are different from last years free ones, but if you weren’t super picky about shade variations I would suggest you only need uptown glamour and Soho silver.

These are quick dirty swatches, so no clean up was involved.

uptown glamour nails incThe metallics shocked me as I expected them to very streaky like some of the foil line are, but they are a kind of low key streaky I can deal with. It’s more of a muted soft gold bordering on champagne. Upon removal I noticed its base town on the cotton wool pad was brown. This is without topcoat.

kate spade uptown glamour nails incIt is a great addition to my nails inc family, and for £2 it’s cheaper than a hight street polish.

Thank you.

Models own free polish from more magazine

Last night I got dragged out in cold to get stuff for tea even though I wasn’t going to eat it :,(. I hate being cold, and my back didn’t want to co-operate. So I made a deal…. I’ll go with if I can have a nail polish. My fiancé was adamant I come to get not even 10 items. Lucky for my fiancé I liked none, then wandering down the magazine isle more magazine popped up (not literally) telling me it has a free Models own polish. They had 2 different colours and 2 lip glosses. I got nude beige. For £1.50 how could anyone say no? Me being me I had to use it when I got home. I started thinking about what else I could use for my mani, and came up with using the free polishes I’ve gathered from magazines. Here’s how it turned out.

After I had applied Nails inc glamour glitter (free with Glamour this month). They look so elegant together. They aren’t in you face, but they aren’t boring either. Perfect combo. Originally I planned to do a stripe down the middle with another free polish, but the fiancé thought it would spoil it. I’ve come to the conclusions I can’t capture glitter  polishes on my nails ugh. Look how pretty they look. I’m starting to improve with applying nail polish without it touching my cuticle…..I think. It still goes all over my finger though :/, and if it’s a polish that needs a lot of coats then I do get it touching my cuticle. Today I’m going to pop to see if I can get another free glamour glitter, because I can see it becoming my favourite, and I don’t want to run out and have to pay the stupid price on eBay.

Polishes used: Sally Hansen double duty as base coat, Models own in nude beige, Nails inc in glamour glitter.

Free Nails inc Glamour swatches

It was unbeknownst to me that Nails inc had partnered with Glamour magazine giving away their polish until my fiancé came back from work with all 4 for me. Isn’t he clever!! I have to say I’m impressed with colours maybe not the pink so much, but the others are fab. Nails inc is a brand that I have many of. Its long wearing, and the colours always look very sharp and crisp. I have never done swatches before so these are my very first (okay second but my first lot I did was when I was dog tired and deleted all evidence off my camera). Bare in mind I’m not all that great at being neat. With out further ado here are the polishes.

The Elizabeth Street (the nudey pink) is a bit run of the mill nothing special, but I’m impressed with the rest. It also helps that I wanted a gold glitter. St James (red) is the perfect red for me it’s not overly bright or garish which kind of shocked me a bit. I found one coat was all I needed, but used two for the swatches. It compliments Motcombe Street lovely. With one coat Motcombe Street is a very deep teal. After the second coat its a deep navy.

Elizabeth Street was the trickiest to apply. Above shows three coats, I think maybe I would try a fourth coat next time. Something is going on with my camera I’m sure of it, because it’s the second time the image has corrupted once I’ve my put my memory card into my laptop. This time it really took the biscuit because it deleted the swatch with Glamour glitter over the other colours. AFTER I had only just removed the polish. This is where I become bad because I am really too tired to redo the swatches. Take my word for it even though Glamour glitter Isn’t loaded with glitter it looks great over all the polishes. Just adds a little Glamour to the manicure ;). Hope this post is helpful!
