Iconic effect

Hotel Transylvania was obviously the best film to watch whilst doing this manicure ;P.

graveyardThe flash and natural light make me want winge, but when you have 5 minutes before you leave to volunteer there isn’t much you can do.

graveyard right

The grey Umberto Giannini polish you can’t really see is beautifully grey. That’s a thing right?! To make the grey pop a bit I added the iconic effect holo topcoat which is a favourite of mine. Then I added the graveyard stencils and slapped a pretty black on top. BAM graveyard nails…I may be sleepy typing right now.

Can you see that ugly chip -_-. Not even 24 hour wear either. I do adore this manicure though.

Thank you

This manicure has a bit of a back story. When I was making the unicorn stencils me and Vicki got onto the subject of mermicorns and how awesome they would be, then lanipopnails on instagram freehanded an amazing mermicorn!!! So I decided to create a kind of mermicorn.

mermicorn 3Tada!!! My ring finger is a Tara’s talons polish (forgot the name). The purple is no.7 thunderstorm (i think), and the holographic topcoat is iconic effect. I wish iconic effect would reopen!!

Thank you.

Love letters

When I purchased cbl woodstock I couldn’t justify the postage for one, so I had a gander and chose little red corvette. Let the picture spamming begin:

cbl litle red corvette

cbl lrc holoThe holo in it is blooming strong!

cbl lrc with sparrows

cbl lrc

cbl red holoThe formula was perfect when applying it, but is prone to chipping. That could be down to using sv though. On the accent nail I used O.P.I mbstw and topped it with my holo topcoat to match little red corvette. Then I stamped with moyou princess plate 11 as I pretty much love that image. As usual I couldn’t leave the manicure alone, so I added black swallows from the shop thankfully it finished off the look of the manicure.

Experimenting take 2

Last week I got a helmer, so I’m now part of that club and am no longer in fear of my draws breaking on me. Phew.

Onto the experimenting! I came across an indie the other day that was beautiful. For the life of me I can’t remember the brand, but it was a grey scattered holo with glitter mixed in. I was getting excited, but then I thought I already own a light grey holo, so maybe I could sandwich in a glitter. It actually worked really well.

holo and glitter layering

grey holoThe glitter used was you are loved by Kunimitsu. Every valentines day she releases a glitter. I’m unsure which year this is from.

Now can I just say grey is a big favourite of mine. Personally I find it such calming colour, so when I saw Eeyore by Iconic effect I had to have it! It’s not as sheer as I expected which is great. 3 easy thin coats and you get full coverage.

This is my left hand, and I’m very proud of it. Those hearts took some deep concentration. The pink used is Sinful Colors pink cream.

Even better

for myself personally anyway. I feel madly in love with different dimensions I only have ice for you. Resistance was needed, then it became impossible simply due to no polish funds. Booo. It got me thinking I could use my Iconic effect holo topcoat and a very sparse silver glitter to get the look of the dd polish. Then it came to me…..why not use O.P.I pure over the holo topcoat. I tested it out.

layering topcoatsFluffing love the combination of the two even better than the dd. Yay for layering and saving money!! Even though it’s way off looking like the dd I feel the flakes stand out more than the silver glitter in the dd polish. Now to lust after a different dd polish ;).

I’m not going to touch on the blue polish, as it needs a spectacular manicure to show it off. The above is not spectacular.

On another note it seems I’ve got myself into blogging late at night, which is really bad. Need to kick that habit for when I’m back at university.

Thank you for reading.
