down feather duvet

I’m slowly catching up on blog post. This manicure was from around the 16th of July and I only remember that because I was trying to make my nails look cool for the kiddies where I volunteer. One little asks me every week what I’ve got on. A las they did not turn out well.

essence splash

essence splash stampingStamping hasn’t really been on my radar for a while. 1) I don’t have time for it. 2) Testing out shop products is more important. Which is why I got really annoyed with all this smudging. Never have I had this problem before, and it wasn’t the stamping either so frankly I don’t know!

The base for this was essence splash which nail loopy sent me. She is totally attuned to my favourite polish colours.

Weird title for a blog post I know but plain old feathers is pants. Plus I love my bed therefor I love my duvet….maybe a little too much.

Thank you.

Sinful colors treasure chest

I’ve said it mutliple times and I will say it again: Why oh why Sinful did you not bring us the textures?! Better yet why did you make them limited edition?

Are you ready for treasure chest picture spam?!

This was 2 coats of treasure chest. It dried fast by my standards (SV spoiled me for life). Out of my very small collection of textures this one is the most textured, but it doesn’t catch on things thankfully. This manicure was wore for 6 days with minimal tip wear :O!

The thermal accent nail was a happy accident, as I wasn’t sure which of the 2 lady varnishes polishes was a thermal. One of the little girls at the school I volunteer at was amazed by it when I put the nail onto the radiator.

Usually I paint my nails at night, and then photograph them after. This time I took a gamble and hoped they didn’t chip. Wise decision if you ask me, as we got some sun!

Thank you PM for y polishes, and thank you for reading

P.S. I’ve been quiet on the blog front due to my dissertation.

Birthday present’s and a little bit of hauling

You guys know I like to slip in the odd haul posts here and there, and I thought I would share my birthday things with you all. This year I was incredibly lucky and very spoiled by my friends and family; not that they will see this, but another thank you to you all.

box of goodiesMy box of nail related presents in all its glory! One of the girls at university got me a mini soap & glory hand food, as she knows I’m so obsessed with my nails.

present from sSaira got me what I like to call the spring package ;). She got me the mint green texture from m&s we had chatted about before, which is perfect because I love the colour and I’m a recent texture lover. MM17 with all its glorious ladybirds and dragonflies. When I was a kid I used to love seeing dragonflies hovering over the water. Saira also got me swan form the new models own collection. Now I don’t know whether to use it or keep it for easter Sunday, as it’s a big deal we all go to my grandparents (in-laws) for the afternoon and dinner. Thank you Saira!

present from h

Hannah killed a huge lemming of mine with Illamasqua facet as you already know, and frankly it’s making me want more from the range. The formula from them is so easy to use. Look at that SHIMMMMMMMMER. Thank you Hannah!

presents from j Now my PM sent me a box full of blue polish, and killed 2 MAJOR lemmings with a splash of purple. Jenna sent me paint shop polish white christmas, and a sallys mini. Lets get this glow on the road like my PM. Sea-ing stars from Sally Hansen, and 2 the lady varnishes polish. I was super excited about those two, as I’m always seeing the indie line pop up on Jenna’s blog. Pestering peeves is a thermal, and I am loving it. us polishBOOOOM, splat and kapooow,  because yes you are looking at sinful colors treasure chest and Zeus. Zeus has been on my wish list since I made one. Now I’m incredibly lucky because she gave me these out of her own stash. That right there is love. Probably doesn’t help that I always want unobtainable.

The milani will be in action to help make decals of my own once I buy a mat. PM swears by it for making her own decals. I also received Finger paints colorful dream flakie, and I have to say I really like the bottles. The lid is a perfect fit for my hand. Now that sounds a bit crazy, but it is.

Thank you PM.

Now onto the things I’ve hauled myself.

IMG_4612Messy Mansion plates have been on my wish list for a while, and with a little help from Saira I got some.

presents to meIn my task to get a back up of #party from Tara I snuck in glory as its a mint shimmer, and you know I have to own that. From her fan collab collection I got holosphere which is a metallic lilac scattered holographic. It’s unique within my collection.

Rainbow Connections had a money off code, and well me and Saira together happened. That should say it all haha. Ocean tears was another wish lister, and after the storm was too pretty to resist.

present from m &d My mom and dad surprised me with this O.P.I holder. Frankly I think it’s super cool.

Thank you for reading.

Trying new things

Everything in this post is new to me, as they were all presents, but I wanted to talk about my new topcoat. Topcoat talk will be at the bottom of the post.

bIMG_4278Lacquer lust aquamarine is the polish that wasn’t included in my Christmas present haul post. Saira picked well didn’t she?! Aquamarine is my birthstone, and I gravitate to blue a lot. Thank you Saira! To be all sentimental on new years day I have to say I’ve created some great friendships this year, and getting to see Saira the last 2 times I have been in London has been great. Lets face it anytime I’m down there I will try and see her. This year I hope to meet up with 3 other ladies that are amazing. I really wish I could meet up with my American friends, but I can’t see that happening anytime soon :(. Totally off subject but has anyone got bored of flying as they have gotten older? I flew to Florida when I was 18, and although it was a bit meh and I got horrid jet lag it was fine. Fast forward to this year a 3 hour flight drove me bonkers!!! I was SO bored, and just wanted to be there already. Pretty sure I bugged the hell out of my fiance.

sIMG_4280You know I said I disliked textures well it turns out I don’t. Barry M’s were on my Christmas list, and I have to say I’m loving Lady. There wasn’t any issues with dry time like I had with the Zoya that swiftly left my collection. It took 3 coats for full coverage, and I was skeptical on how thick it would look on my nail. Thankfully it isn’t thick at all, and better yet when I added the dots they seem to have absorbed into the texture leaving no blobs…….kinda want the other 2 from the collection. Must resist though.

I used O.P.I my favourite ornament on my thumb and pinky finger (ohmagawd I love it. The pale gold is gorgeous). No issues with application. Lets face it O.P.I will always be a love of mine, and I’m still hankering for the man with the golden gun.

O.P.I was last years (sounds weird 2013) gold/silver leaf topper, and it applied fine. No fishing was needed all I had to do was rearrange them on my nail with some dabbing. Funny thing happened yesterday. Me and one of the ladies in sally’s got talking about the gold leaf topcoat. She said she hated the man with the golden gun, and promptly said I’m buying pure when I showed it her on my nail. She felt the man with the golden was mustardy looking.

You probably can’t see it but there is some stamping on my middle finger. I stamped with a Sally Hansen chrome, and it didn’t work to great. Unfortunately my new topcoat smudged and dragged the stamping -_-.

pIMG_4279Lets talk topcoat. Now you all know I’m a Seche Vite lover through and through even when its being a pain in the bum. In my Butter London set I got a base and topcoat. The fast drying topcoat intrigued me. Would it dry as fast as SV? I didn’t actually time it, but it was fast drying. Not as fast as SV, but nothing to moan about either. So yes I could use it regularly. It isn’t as glossy as SV which makes me a bit sad and slightly OCD, as I doubt anyone else in the house would have noticed that. Glitters are such topcoat eaters and usually after a coat or 2 of SV all is smooth. Not the case for Butter London P.D quick topcoat. After 2 coats on the glitter it still isn’t anywhere near as smooth to touch as it would have been with SV. Personally I feel I would avoid the topcoat when stamping as it started dragging the stamped polish down my nail.

All in all I will use it may not create the gel look I’m often complimented on, but it does the job well. So thumbs up to Butter London on that one.

Hope you all had fun last night, and have a great new years day!!

Thank you for reading.

Slap and dash

Lately my nails are being done once a week, which I’m not particularly happy about, but you gotta do what you gotta do. In a rush to get to my fiances I literally grabbed my polish bag, a polish that was sitting on the side, the embellishment box (was next to the bag), and a matching polish that lives in its spot (OCD about the bottom polish draw).

milky baseI feel as if my iconic effect holo top coat works best on light colours. It makes them look like creamy holos in my head.

star accent holo

holooooooThe milky based polish was a present off a friend, and it’s so prettttay. I did struggle a bit with the formula. It was hard to use thin coats, so I had to use 3 thickish coats. Didn’t really do it justice in my rush application, as you can see by the bare spots. On the ring finger is China glaze for Audrey topped with Iconic effect holo topcoat. For a bit of bling I added a 5mm star from She Sells Seashells. I got a bit clap happy with the SV. Hopefully that explains the mess.

Thank you 🙂
