Instyle 2014 free nails inc

It’s that time again!!! Free nails inc.

Instyle magazine retails at £3.90 and this year they have surprised me. I’ve combed through my nails inc draw and there aren’t any dupes. Ok ok there are some similar, but they are definitely not the same. Lets meet the ladies.

IMG_4816IMG_4817Seems they are Brazilian ladies, and very good looking ones.

IMG_4819 These are all three quick coats, and admittedly on the thick side. Your seeing my sisters nails today. I was impatient and my sisters nails were naked. On the plus side she went with the pink shade for her manicure. Personally I am loving Copacabana coral and Sao Paulo streets.

Now GO GO GO!

What to expect from tinted nail polish

After a few people expressed interest in seeing the Maybelline sheer tints in action I decided to add a link in the last to an old blog post using them. I’d like to think I’ve improved greatly since that post, so I decided to have a play with them again.

The sheer tints are basically a coloured topcoat, and remind me of water colours. Water colours for nails that’s what I’m calling them. Now I did look into the birch box video showing you what you can with the O.P.I sheer tints, and they seem to be the same concept. Now whilst the birch box showed you them on a white base coat I decided to use a silver holographic base colour.

I decided to do something different on each nail. On my little finger I sponged all 4 shades on, then dabbed some extra on the eye to build up the colour. On my ring finger I applied some random length stripes in orange, blue and berry water. The middle got dots, but the lemon water isn’t too visible. Now on my index finger I started to recreate the birch box video manicure, but mine is more angular. At least I tried. My favourite has to be berry water out of them all.

Hope this post was helpful!

Thank you for reading.

Orly star spangled freebie from cosmopolitan

If none of you have realised yet I’m a bargain hunter. That’s why I get so excited when magazines give away brands free. Last week it was glamour, and this week its cosmopolitan. I will admit I wasn’t impressed with colours Orly were giving away free from the promo picture. I went for the gold glitter originally, which ended up being the same as last years nails inc glamour glitter. I didn’t think twice about the red as it looked metallic.

orly star spangled 5mlBoy was that promo picture bad, because this red is a beauty. It’s called star spangled, and is a gorgeous red filled with lots of red micro glitter.

orly gingham

This is 3 coats of star spangled. There were no issues with application. It actually went on like a dream.

orly freebie cosmoFirst thing I did after I had finished was check how much was left in the bottle, and shockingly there is lots left. That was the only downside to freebie it being only 5ml. In all reality though how often do we use a whole bottle of full size nail polish, unless its our favourite.

orly star spangled cosmo

Tonight I have a fancy dress 21st, and I’m going as little red riding hood. That’s why I tried my hand at doing some gingham.

Hope this is helpful 🙂

Thank you.

a-england saint george

When a-england announced their anniversary sale it was time to complete my collection. Wish I had got Galahad :(. I thoroughly went through swatches of everything I fancied. Which was a lot, but settled on three. One of which was saint George.

a-england saint george

My SV caused shrinkage 🙁 So I decided to play around with gradients…….again. I used a-england Tristam.

a-england gradient

I came up to far on the nail with the gradient. For my liking anyway. After covering the terrible index finger shrinkage with my gradient SV went and did it again. Oh well. Then I got the stamping itch.

stamping over a gradient

8 of 10 worked perfectly!!!!! Feel like I’m getting somewhere with this stamping business now. Only down side is the colour was really subtle over the gradient.

The Sally Hansen insta-dri worked really well for stamping. Thanks for recommending it people.

Products used: Sally Hansen double duty. a-england saint George and Tristam. Sally Hansen insta-dri in presto pewter. Seche vite, and a make up sponge.

Thanks.

Free Nails inc Glamour swatches

It was unbeknownst to me that Nails inc had partnered with Glamour magazine giving away their polish until my fiancé came back from work with all 4 for me. Isn’t he clever!! I have to say I’m impressed with colours maybe not the pink so much, but the others are fab. Nails inc is a brand that I have many of. Its long wearing, and the colours always look very sharp and crisp. I have never done swatches before so these are my very first (okay second but my first lot I did was when I was dog tired and deleted all evidence off my camera). Bare in mind I’m not all that great at being neat. With out further ado here are the polishes.

The Elizabeth Street (the nudey pink) is a bit run of the mill nothing special, but I’m impressed with the rest. It also helps that I wanted a gold glitter. St James (red) is the perfect red for me it’s not overly bright or garish which kind of shocked me a bit. I found one coat was all I needed, but used two for the swatches. It compliments Motcombe Street lovely. With one coat Motcombe Street is a very deep teal. After the second coat its a deep navy.

Elizabeth Street was the trickiest to apply. Above shows three coats, I think maybe I would try a fourth coat next time. Something is going on with my camera I’m sure of it, because it’s the second time the image has corrupted once I’ve my put my memory card into my laptop. This time it really took the biscuit because it deleted the swatch with Glamour glitter over the other colours. AFTER I had only just removed the polish. This is where I become bad because I am really too tired to redo the swatches. Take my word for it even though Glamour glitter Isn’t loaded with glitter it looks great over all the polishes. Just adds a little Glamour to the manicure ;). Hope this post is helpful!

Thanks
